Al-Sharq, Al-Raya Commend Qatar's Successful Participation in St. Petersburg Forum

Doha, June 06 (QNA) - In their editorials Sunday, Qatari dailies Al-Sharq and Al-Raya highlighted the Qatari participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which gave an important dimension to the Qatari-Russian relations, and opened new horizons for bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

The papers stressed that the forum had achieved its goals and come out with important results for the benefit of Qatar and for the benefit of Qatari-Russian relations through the signing of multiple agreements that will support the two countries' partnership.

The newspapers underlined the importance of Qatar's participation in the forum, saying that this participation gave a good impetus to the Qatari-Russian relations through the accompanying events or through the bilateral agreements that were signed.

The papers indicated that Qatar's participation in such important global forums provides it with wide opportunities to enhance its position internationally and regionally, strengthens its relations with international partners and contributes to advancing economic cooperation and exchanging benefits with the participating countries to achieve common interests.

Al-Sharq said that the State of Qatar, through the high-level participation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani via videoconferencing in the main and discussion sessions of the Forum, and the participation of the Qatari delegation led by HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, succeeded in achieving its goals in developing bilateral cooperation and partnership with the Russian Federation, and in highlighting the investment opportunities provided by the country in various fields, noting that this contributes to attracting more foreign direct investment and enhancing Qatar's competitive position in the region and beyond.

The newspaper said that over 800 agreements worth a total of $52 billion have been struck at this year's edition of the Forum in which 13,000 people, 140 countries, 11,000 Russian and foreign companies participated, pointing out that Qatar had greatly involved in these agreements due to the level of its participation from the public and private sectors, as well as its various activities in the Qatar pavilion, which attracted the attention of many participants in the forum, and drew attention to the capabilities and opportunities that the State enjoys.

The daily also referred to HE President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin who expressed his complete satisfaction with the new level of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, thanks to joint efforts with HH the Amir.

In conclusion, Al-Sharq said that the partnership between the State of Qatar and the Russian Federation is promised to achieve a great leap, in light of the outcomes of the St. Petersburg Forum, which pave the way for reaching strategic partnerships in many areas for the common interests of the two friendly countries and peoples. 

In turn, Al-Raya newspaper stressed that the Qatari participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum gave an important dimension to the Qatari-Russian relations, and opened new horizons for bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields in the interest and prosperity of the two friendly countries and peoples.

The forum had achieved its objectives and come out with important results in favor of Qatar and in the interests of Qatari-Russian relations through the signing of multiple agreements that will support the process of the Qatari-Russian partnership, the paper stressed.

Al-Raya pointed out that the importance of Qatar's participation in the forum stems from the fact that its participation as a guest of honor for this session has given a good impetus to the Qatari-Russian relations, through the accompanying events or through the bilateral agreements that have been signed. Moreover, the paper explained that Qatar has achieved all the desired goals from its participation, and therefore it is not surprising that the Russian President personally praises Qatar's participation in the forum and the level of relations between Russia and Qatar at all economic and political levels and cooperation in the humanitarian field.

The paper noted the development of Qatari-Russian relations, which came as a reflection of the keenness of the Qatari and Russian leadership to strengthen them and transform them from bilateral cooperation relations to a strategic partnership in various fields, by establishing strong cooperation in various fields, especially the energy sector, where the volume of Qatari investments in this field amounts to $13 billion. Therefore, Qatar's participation in the forum represents a great opportunity to strengthen this partnership, especially since more than 60 joint cooperation agreements have been signed between the two countries, the paper added.

Al-Raya considered that Qatar's participation in the forum was an affirmation of its keenness to develop economic cooperation and partnership relations with Russia and various countries of the world in trade and investment, and to exchange experiences between the two friendly countries in various fields, including highlighting Qatari culture through various events taking place in St. Petersburg during the days of the forum. The participation stems from the importance of the forum as a leading and effective global platform for exchanging views and experiences between political leaders, government officials and representatives of the business sector from different countries of the world, and that Qatar was able to reach its voice to the whole world through political dialogues held on the sidelines of the forum, the paper pointed out.

The newspaper concluded by emphasizing the comprehensive renaissance the State of Qatar is experiencing through the implementation of its national strategies, programs and numerous projects in accordance with the Qatar National Vision 2030, and that the main driver of the Qatari economy at this stage is investments in infrastructure and development projects, pointing out that its participation in such important global forums gives it ample opportunities to enhance its position internationally and regionally, strengthen its relations with international partners, and contribute to advancing economic cooperation and exchanging benefits with participating countries to achieve common interests.
