Al-Raya, The Peninsula Hail Great Successes in Qatar's Infrastructure Projects Sector

Doha, July 13 (QNA) - In their editorials Tuesday, Al-Raya and The Peninsula newspapers hailed the great success that have been achieved during the past few years in the management and implementation of major infrastructure projects in the State of Qatar.

The two newspapers affirmed that the major strategic projects that have been achieved will play a major role in promoting the country's economic growth, noting in this regard that HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani toured Hamad International Airport (HIA) and Doha International Airport to see the expansion and development projects at the two airports.

For its part, Al-Raya newspaper said that HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior began his tour in HIA, where he listened to a summary about the multi-stage expansion plans being implemented at the airport as part of the completion plan of its construction, in line with the main plan of the airport project.

HE also toured Doha International Airport, during which he was briefed on the ongoing infrastructure development projects and the various facilities and workflow in it, in addition to security and safety procedures, the paper added.

The newspaper pointed out that the logistics sector in Qatar is witnessing a strong renaissance, thanks to the great attention paid by the wise leadership to this sector, as it is the nerve centre of most production and service activities, stressing that Hamad International Airport and Doha International Airport are considered among the major strategic projects in the country, because of their great importance in linking Qatar with the world, facilitating the process of movement and receiving goods, facilitating the process of trade and establishing economic partnerships.

The newspaper underlined that Qatar's strategic location qualifies it to be a global transit station, noting that Qatar has realized this advantage, so it has embarked on developing Hamad International Airport and Doha International Airport as part of its strategic projects.

Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that the State of Qatar is continuing to implement its strategic projects, so it attaches great importance to the Hamad and Doha international airports, as they are among the projects of the Qatari renaissance, and they are being developed to meet the growing demand for air travel, and to accommodate the growth achieved by Qatar Airways, the national carrier of the State of Qatar. 

In turn, The Peninsula newspaper underlined HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani's visit to both Hamad International Airport (HIA) and Doha International Airport to witness the progress of the expansion and development projects.

The Qatari daily said that HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, during his visit to HIA, was briefed about the multi-stage expansion plans being implemented at the airport as part of the completion plan of its construction, in line with the main plan of the airport project. His Excellency was also briefed on the developments of the projects of the central area, which includes the passenger terminal and duty free, and the west side, which includes taxiways, aircraft parking lots, baggage handling building, and jet fuel buildings, the paper added.

The newspaper pointed to HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior's tour at Doha International Airport, during which he was briefed on the ongoing infrastructure development projects and the various facilities, in addition to security and safety procedures and airport preparations to facilitate the arrival of the visitors participating in FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021 and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The paper said that the expansion of the current phase, which will end next year, will serve the guests of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, pointing out that the expansion will ensure HIA can accommodate the expected 60 million passengers that will be flying to Qatar during FIFA World Cup and will also ensure guests flying to Qatar will be able to enjoy the amazing facilities available at HIA.

HIA has introduced multiple virus mitigation systems to ensure the airport is safe and secure for 2022, the Qatari daily said, adding that safety measures at airport terminals were strengthened with fully autonomous disinfectant robots and advanced thermal screening helmets.

The newspaper stressed that FIFA Arab Cup, taking place exactly a year before the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, is seen as a test event for football's showpiece event, pointing out that the finals of both events are set to take place on December 18 Qatar's National Day.

In conclusion, The Peninsula said that in the run up to these events, Qatar is leaving no stone unturned to ensure safety of visitors and travellers, setting new standards and benchmarks for international travel, which will offer everyone a worry-free and pleasureful journey. (QNA)
