Doha, July 20 (QNA) - Al-Raya newspaper said in its editorial that the State of Qatar managed to maintain its position as one of the fastest growing economies with a host of investment opportunities, reflecting the progressive economic policies and financial reforms undertaken by the country recently.

The paper highlighted the report released by the Planning and Statistics Authority which showed that the Monthly Industrial Production Index showed a growth of 6 percent in May compared to the previous month, and an increase of 1.7 percent on an annual basis.

Al-Raya said that the mining index saw a 5.9 percent increase month-on-month owing to a 5.9 percent expansion in the extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas.

The paper also said that the manufacturing sector has seen significant progress in the last year in terms of the number of facilities or the number of industries. There were more than 380 new industrial facilities established, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the state's manufacturing strategy.

The paper concluded by saying that the series of policies implemented by the state to support the industrial sector has succeeded in supporting the economy. (QNA)
