Doha, July 31 (QNA) - Al-Watan newspaper, issued today, praised Qatar University ranking second in the Arab world, according to the Times Higher Education Arab University Rankings 2021.
Under the title "Proud Achievements", the newspaper said in its editorial that the new ranking of Arab universities, which was conducted by Times Higher Education (THE) for the first time and included 125 institutions in 14 countries, shows the strength of higher education across the region, based on a unique approach that includes new regional metrics centered around reputation and collaboration, along with metrics related to social impact.
Al-Watan newspaper explained that Qatar University continues to progress at a steady pace to become on the verge of entering the list of the top 200 universities in the world, and according to the QS classification for the year 2022, Qatar University ranked 224.
The newspaper pointed out that the assessment of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings for 2022 is based on performance indicators that have been carefully calibrated to measure the performance of the university, namely: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, and citations to research members, international faculty ratio, international student ratio.
Al-Watan concluded its editorial by saying that the achievements of our national university are a cause for pride, and the leaps it has achieved demonstrate the commitment of Qatar University towards its five-year strategy (2018-2022), which defines the paths to achieving continuous excellence in performance, and participation in the international rankings creates an atmosphere of positive competition. It raises the international standing of the participants, and improves the labor market for graduates of those universities, and the primary goal remains to prepare and build national capacities to build a knowledge-based economy.
