President of International Federation of Asian and African Trade Unions Praises Qatar's Measures in Favor of Workers

Doha, September 09 (QNA) - President of the International Federation of Asian and African Trade Unions Saud Al Hujailan praised the measures and reforms taken by the State of Qatar in favor of workers.

The President of the International Federation of Asian and African Trade Unions said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the decision of the State of Qatar to implement minimum wage for migrant workers is a pioneering step in a region characterized by the density of expatriate workers and praised Qatar's efforts to improve working conditions.

Al Hujailan revealed that he will go on a Gulf tour to see the labor activities during the coming period.

He also indicated that the Unions will work in the coming period to expand its trade union and cultural activities in the Asian and African continents with the aim of strengthening work relations between the parties to production, leading to job satisfaction and improving work environment and legislation, especially since the Asian and African continents comprise more than 65 percent of world workers.

He explained that the Union will open a number of subsidiary headquarters to serve its union activities, after it had opened the main branch in the Mauritanian Republic last month and signed a number of agreements with production parties. It will also hold several workshops on work and workers. (QNA)
