Qatari Newspapers Hail Qatar's Success in Organizing IPU General Assembly despite Unjust Blockade

Doha, April 11 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers on Thursday praised Qatar's success in organizing the 140th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which confirmed that the State of Qatar achieved and fulfilled its commitments despite the unjust blockade and that Doha is still the capital of international and regional conferences and forums.

Over the five-day event, Doha opened successful dialogue with parliamentarians of the world to conduct in-depth discussions on various global issues with various international bodies, noting that only those who have deluded themselves missed productive and constructive discussions in a session that was described by the IPU President Gabriela Barron as the most successful in the history of the Union.

The press stressed that the Qatari parliamentary diplomacy, which was referred to by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani during the opening session, has become the basis for political action, especially that parliamentarians can direct their governments to justice in political aspects.

For its part, Al-Raya newspaper said in its editorial that Qatar's success in organizing an important international meeting confirms that it has placed the blockade behind it. Al-Raya pointed out that the rejection of the immoral and inhumane blockade by the heads of delegations is a great response to the blockade countries, with 46,000 parliamentarians around the world to look forward to the future, and discuss issues of security, peace, stability and the rule of law.

The success of the 140th General Assembly in Doha coincides with the 130th anniversary of the IPU, which underscores the great role the IPU plays in serving humanitarian issues of concern to people.

Al-Raya said that the resolutions issued by the meeting and the large and unprecedented participation, including the Doha Declaration on education that promotes peace among the peoples of the world and Qatar's successful hosting of the 140th General Assembly of the IPU is a renewal of the confidence of the international community in Qatar and a clear message to the countries of the blockade that they are required to reconsider their positions and that the IPU confirmed that it won't be a platform to pass its agenda and conspiracies.

Concluding, the newspaper said Qatar, which has been the focus of the world's attention due to the high turnout witnessed by legislators around the world, is proud of the praise received by the General Assembly meetings and the accompanying meetings in Doha, whether during discussions or bilateral meetings with the officials of the IPU and the heads of parliaments and delegations.

Meanwhile, Al-Watan said that Doha hosted parliaments of the world for five days to hold in-depth discussions on various world issues through the meetings of the 140th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

Al-Watan noted that parliamentarians gathered in Doha from all parts of the earth, except those who denied themselves from taking part in such fruitful in such productive and constructive discussions, but their absence did not have any effect on the success of the session which was described by the IPU President Gabriela Barron as the most successful in the history of the Union.

The paper highlighted the condemnation of the blockade imposed on Qatar in Doha Declaration, and the rejection of the IPU of the blockade and all the unilateral measures and actions that are contrary to international law.

Al-Watan stressed the significance of the IPU condemnation of the unjust blockade imposed on Qatar as those parliamentarians represent the 162 countries which took part in the meetings.

The in-depth and important dialogues and discussions held over five days in Doha, and the Doha Declaration which includes strong and clear positions, reflected the vision and will of the peoples represented by their parliamentarians and will have a great impact in serving the interests of the peoples, Al-Watan concluded.

In turn, Al-Sharq said that the conclusion of the 140th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) was turned into an occasion to express the international praise for Qatar's remarkable efforts and its success in organizing the best conference in the history of the Union.

Al-Sharq added that the Doha Declaration which condemned and rejected the unjust blockade impose on the State of Qatar was an international consensus expressed by representatives of the peoples of the world and heads of parliaments.

In appreciation of the position of the parliamentarians of the world, HE Speaker of the Shura Council and President of the 140th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud expressed the State of Qatar's appreciation for the praise it has received, stressing that it reflects the appreciation of the Union's members of the State of Qatar's Amir, government, and people, which was succeeded, despite the unjust blockade, in organizing unprecedented IPU meetings, Al-Watan noted.

The State of Qatar has achieved successes at all levels, while the blockading countries has been recording loses, including their boycott of the conference, as indicated by the IPU President when she said that boycotters of the Doha meetings have lost a valuable international opportunity, Al-Sharq said.

For its part, Al-Arab newspaper said in its editorial that the large and wide participation in the meetings of the 140th General Assembly of the IPU and the accompanying meetings embodied the confidence and appreciation of the State of Qatar and the wise leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

The newspaper highlighted that 80 parliamentarians heads and more than 2,270 parliamentarians from more than 160 countries participated in this international parliamentary event, noting the first time in IPU's history that meetings in which this large number is taking part outside the headquarters of the Union and reflects the international respect and the depth of relations with the Qatari people.

The meetings discussed how parliaments can contribute to the support of education around the world, Al-Arab noted, especially given the high amount of countries in need of support in this area to achieve the desired development, noting that the role of the country is prominent in the distribution of development and education in different countries of the world, especially in conflict areas.

Al-Arab said that through these meetings, Doha seeks to spread peace, love and good in all parts of the world, relying on Qatar's preventive diplomacy to act to solve problems and confront crises before they happen.

Concluding, Al-Arab stressed that the State of Qatar benefited from these meetings, where the experiences of the Shura Council were presented to the participating countries, as well as their experiences on many issues. (QNA)
