Doha, October 01 (QNA) - Qatari daily, Al-Raya, hailed the announcement made by the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) of the inauguration of the Education City Stadium, nicknamed the 'Diamond in the Desert', which will be the third tournament-ready venue for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, following Khalifa International Stadium and Al Janoub Stadium.
The inauguration of the Education City Stadium, the paper said, affirms the State of Qatar's readiness to host the largest football tournament in the world in 2022.
The newspaper said that the entire world will witness an important tournament, noting the official inauguration of the stadium which will coincide with the National Day of the State of Qatar on December 18, when it hosts the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final, before hosting the tournament's final three days later.
The paper stressed that the Education City Stadium is gaining its importance because it has a 40,000-capacity arena, and is located in the heart of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, which is a beacon of knowledge, innovation and scientific research in Qatar, the Middle East and the world. The Stadium's design draws on the rich history of Islamic architecture, blended with striking modernity, the paper added.
The inauguration of Education City Stadium also will mark another major milestone in Qatar's journey towards hosting the 2022 World Cup, the paper said, underlying that everyone in Qatar will feel pride when this architectural masterpiece is unveiled on the country's National Day, during FIFA Club World Cup.
