Doha, September 01 (QNA) - Qatari Al-Sharq newspaper hailed on Tuesday the strong and important partnership between the State of Qatar and the United States of America, pointing out that both countries are working to bring peace to the Middle East region.
In its editorial entitled "Peace is the Axis of the Qatari-US Partnership", the paper highlighted the US confidence in Qatar's vision to address developments in the region including Libya, Yemen, the Palestinian territories, eastern Mediterranean, Somalia, Sudan and others.
In this context, Al-Sharq pointed to the US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Schenker's visit to Doha yesterday, which came to affirm the strong partnership between the two countries especially in combating terrorism.
In this regard, Al-Sharq underlined the US official's praise for the State of Qatar's efforts, its positions and legislation to prevent the financing of terrorism, highlighting his affirmation that the State of Qatar is an important member of the Global Coalition Against ISIS.
The newspaper said that the US official's visit was an opportunity to affirm that the two countries are working side by side in all international forums and organizations, pointing out that David Schenker described the State of Qatar as an important ally of his country.
The daily noted Doha-Washington partnership in the economic, security and military fields, in addition to investments, education, culture, health efforts to combat Coronavirus, and other areas in the framework of the strategic dialogue between the two countries.
In conclusion, Al-Sharq said that the US official will visit Lebanon after the end of his visit to Doha; in this context, he expressed his thanks for the important support and assistance Qatar has provided to Lebanon since the explosion of Beirut Port by sending aid, which will make Lebanon more secure and stable.
