Doha, September 09 (QNA) - In their editorials Wednesday, Al-Sharq and Al-Watan newspapers highlighted the effective role of the State of Qatar in providing support to many countries of the world and helping brothers and friends, especially in difficult times.

For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper said that the State of Qatar continues to stand by all brotherly and friendly countries in all times and situations, and it is the fastest country to help the distressed in cases of emergency and disasters.

After the disaster of the Lebanon explosion and the great role it has played in standing by the brotherly Lebanese people, Qatar is ready to support the brotherly Sudanese people by initiating a large campaign to help the brothers and those affected by floods, torrents and rains, the newspaper added.

The paper referred to the Sudanese Health Minister Osama Abdel Rahim's thanks and appreciation to the continuous contributions and assistance of Qatar to his country in facing the Coronavirus pandemic.

As it did in Sudan and other countries affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, Qatar delivered on Tuesday medical aid provided by Qatar Charity to the friendly Republic of Tajikistan to confront the outbreak of the pandemic. the paper said.

Qatar has played an active role in providing support to many countries of the world as part of the global efforts made to address the Coronavirus pandemic, based on a firm policy of an inherited moral commitment and humanitarian principles, Al-Sharq noted.

Supporting the Palestinian cause and Palestinian brothers in all fields is a constant priority for the State of Qatar, the paper said, pointing out that the Qatari Committee has increased the number of beneficiaries of the monthly financial grant for the needy Palestinian families to include families affected by the Coronavirus in the Gaza Strip.

Al-Sharq concluded by saying that Qatar never forgets its humanitarian duty to stand by brothers and friends, a role that reflects its moral and humanitarian principles and values and is at the core of the country's foreign policy priorities.

In turn, Al-Watan newspaper affirmed in its editorial that the State of Qatar is always swift in extending a helping hand to the brothers and friends, which is a humanitarian duty, stressing that Doha will remain a beacon of support and assistance to everyone in need.

In this regard, the Qatari daily pointed to the urgent humanitarian fundraising campaign "Salma Ya Sudan" launched by Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) for an emergency response to the recent flash floods in many states of Sudan, pointing out that the new scheme seeks to help 3,000 affected families, or 18,000 persons in total.

To be implemented in cooperation with the Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS), the 3-month project is aimed at alleviating the impact of the flooding on the worst-hit families, by providing food security, cash assistance and rebuilding of damaged homes, the paper underlined, adding that the last phase is to support the community's ability to recover from the effects of floods and restore normal life by achieving health services, community awareness, and capacity-building.

The paper stated that according to the project plan, a preliminary rapid assessment will be conducted to identify the detailed needs and beneficiaries from the food and non-food assistance and based on the findings, the hospitals that receive injuries will be given the medical equipment and supplies they need.

Al-Watan highlighted the Qatari relief that brings hope to thousands of people affected by the floods, underlining that in the wake of the disaster, QRCS's Disaster Management Center in Doha was activated and personnel of its representation mission in Sudan was deployed to assess the damage and gather information, in coordination with SRCS personnel.

In conclusion, the newspaper said that the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has also opened the door to donate and support "Salma Ya Sudan" campaign through a website and by sending a short text message in order to mobilize all possible resources to provide effective support that helps the brothers in Sudan overcome this painful ordeal.
