Doha, October 06 (QNA) - Al-Sharq newspaper expressed hope to put an end to the conflict in Afghanistan that has lasted for more than four decades, pointing to the continuing efforts to achieve peace for the Afghan people through negotiations hosted by the State of Qatar between the Afghan parties.
In its editorial Tuesday, the Qatari daily underlined HE President of the sisterly Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani's visit to the State of Qatar which would give impetus to the negotiations and strengthen the two countries' relations in all fields.
The paper stressed that the State of Qatar believes that development and the fight against poverty are inseparable from efforts to resolve conflicts and eliminate tensions especially in Afghanistan, a country that has suffered for decades from foreign interference.
Al-Sharq said that the Afghan people, represented by the leaders and dignitaries who engage in the Doha dialogue launched on Sep. 12, 2020, are now able to fulfill the dream of peace from Doha to Kabul, with courage and patience for their interest.
The newspaper indicated that peace and stability in the sisterly Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is no longer impossible, hailing the endeavor launched by the State of Qatar that seeks to resolve crises through the negotiations between the Taliban and the United States of America, which culminated in the Doha Agreement signed on February, 2020.
In conclusion, Al-Sharq said that Doha is proving once again that it is the capital of successful mediation, noting the Qatari diplomacy that provides all the success factors for the Afghan negotiations to achieve the desired peace and build the future for the brotherly Afghan people. (QNA)
