Doha, October 22 (QNA) - Al-Sharq and Al-Watan newspapers highlighted in their editorials Thursday the State of Qatar's welcoming of constructive initiatives to find means toward de-scalation and settle differences through dialogue in the Gulf region before the Security Council on Wednesday, affirming that this welcome is a reflection of Doha's positive approach and its early keenness on dialogue and resolving crises through diplomatic means, away from the policy of blockade and sanctions to achieve political and security stability in the region.
The papers stressed that the essence of the foreign policy of the State of Qatar is to settle differences through dialogue, which was the country's approach in dealing with the Gulf crisis, and pointed out, in this regard, to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's call since the beginning of the crisis, for serious and constructive dialogue based on common interests, good neighborliness and mutual respect for the sovereignty, independence and unity of states, as well as non-interference in their internal affairs.
For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper noted in its editorial that what distinguishes the Qatari position before the Security Council and in its dealing with international efforts to end disputes is that it has been stable since the outbreak of the Gulf crisis until today.
The paper also pointed out that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani called for a serious and constructive dialogue based on common interests, good neighborliness, mutual respect for the sovereignty, independence and unity of States and non-interference in their internal affairs, and expressed his commitment to mediation, especially the efforts of HH the late Amir of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the efforts of brotherly and friendly countries.
The paper also said that the State of Qatar's responding to the calling of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on countries in the region to act collectively to reduce tensions and prevent conflict, came at the level of responsibility as presented by HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Ambassador Sheikha Alya bint Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, before the UN Security Council. It also reflects an early commitment to Qatar's serious pursuit of resolving crises peacefully, especially since it is the core of the state's foreign policy and the approach it followed in dealing with the Gulf crisis, the paper added.
The paper added that the calling of the UN Secretary-General for reducing tension in the Gulf region would prepare the region to face challenges, especially his proposal to take measures to build trust and refrain from actions that have destabilizing effects, which is a call that not only guarantees the end of existing crises but also avoids their occurrence in the future.
The paper concluded its editorial by saying that reducing tension in the Gulf region will devote time to confronting the challenges ahead, the most dangerous of which are terrorism, and it would also pave the way for the settlement of the most complex crises in the Middle East region, which is what the State of Qatar responds to and is always keen to achieve.
