The Consulate General of the State of Qatar has participated in the fifth Belt and Road Summit organized by the Government of the Hong Kong SAR and HKTDC, through a designated new virtual platform.

The summit, under the theme “A Business Vision for a Sustainable and Inclusive Future”, took place on the 30 of November and 01 of December, aiming to discover and strengthen cooperation among countries under the Belt and Road Summit.

The Chief Executive of Hong Kong, the Honorable Carrie Lam emphasized in her keynote speech the importance of Hong Kong and its central position to the Belt and Road Initiative, and pointed out that Hong Kong is always keen to strengthen the collaboration and partnership with Belt and Road economies. 

The summit featured more than 80 government and business leaders from countries across the Belt and Road Initiative. Through the summit’s platform, participants were able to access talks and seminars and development strategies’ forums as well as one-to-one business matching meeting, with more than 700 arranged for business owners.

The development of the Belt and Road Initiative and its projects in the 68 participating countries took center stage at the summit, while participants and organizers highlighted the importance of Banking, Financing, Technology and other sectors in supporting the success of the Initiative.
