Qatar National Library to Host 2021 IFLA Interlending and Document Supply Conference

Doha, December 28 (QNA) - Qatar National Library has been selected to host the 17th International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Interlending and Document Supply (ILDS) Conference from October 4 to 7, 2021. The successful bid is the result of close cooperation with Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC), which provided support and commitment in promoting this event.

The ILDS conference will discuss innovative practices, strategies, and experiences in the field of interlending and document supply. The ILDS service is an integral component of the global information network, which consists of national, academic, public, private, and scientific libraries, provides users with access to print and digital collections in diverse languages and formats from around the world.

HE Minister of State and President of Qatar National Library Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari said: "Interlending and document supply is one of the cornerstones of any library's operations, and continued cooperation between institutions is critical to our ability to serve our users. By hosting the 2021 IFLA Interlending and Document Supply Conference, the Library is reaffirming our support for this important field, and we look forward to welcoming delegates from around the world to participate in these important discussions."

HE Secretary General of QNTC and Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker said that hosting the ILDS conference reaffirms Qatar's reputation in the knowledge space, adding: "Business events are a key part of our tourism strategy, and is an area showing sustained growth, allowing us to leverage Qatar's offerings in education, research and knowledge. Through hosting events such as this, QNTC works with stakeholders to attract visitors to our shores and build a sustainable tourism sector." (QNA)
