Qatar Swimming Association Prepares to Host Opening Round of Marathon Swim World Series 2021

Doha, March 01 (QNA) - The Qatar Swimming Association is preparing to host Leg 1 of the FINA/CNSG Marathon Swim World Series 2021 on March 13 at Katara Beach. The 10km race will witness the participation of 99 of the best swimmers in the world, along with 65 technical personnel from 27 countries.

The Qatar Swimming Association will organize the event by following all precautionary measures issued by the Ministry of Public Health and the official authorities in the country for the safety of the athletes and all participants.

Doha, which hosted a World Series round in 2018 for the first time, is preparing to host the 2023 World Aquatics Championships, and hosting the Leg 1 of the FINA/CNSG Marathon Swim World Series 2021 is a great opportunity to gain experiences in hosting such events.

Chairman of the Qatar Swimming Association Khalil Al Jaber said that the Association is preparing with the best equipment for competing athletes, as it did in the past three years, despite facing unprecedented challenges this year due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), adding that this event will be another step for the Association towards a successful organization of the 2023 World Aquatics Championships.

Many federations from around the world have confirmed their confidence in the Qatar Swimming Association's ability to organize Leg 1 of the FINA/CNSG Marathon Swim World Series 2021 in the best possible way, given the experience it enjoys in organizing such world tournaments, he added.

The event will be organized taking into account all precautionary measures to confront the COVID-19 spread to provide a safe environment for everyone in the tournament, he explained. (QNA)
