Doha, June 24 (QNA) - Qatari daily newspapers highlighted in their Thursday editorials the distinguished results and impressive successes achieved by the Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg, which concluded on Wednesday after high-level participants presented a set of solutions to accelerate recovery from COVID-19 repercussions, adding that the ideas and recommendations they presented provided an opportunity for the world to examine options and future solutions.
The newspapers emphasized that one of the reasons for the success of the forum, which HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani addressed in the opening session, lies in the fact that it drew a road map for the world beyond the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the participation of heads of state and government, with more than 100 speakers from all over the world. The speakers were senior decision-makers, policy makers, opinion leaders, experts and specialized thinkers, which the newspapers said gave the forum an important strategic dimension and dynamic discussions on the importance of consolidating and deepening ways of cooperation and communication as a means to enhance economic opportunities.
Al-Raya newspaper said in its Thursday editorial that the Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg, under the slogan Reimagining the World, hosted a global elite that includes more than 2,000 CEOs, inspirational figures and decision-makers in the fields of finance, economy, investment, technology, energy, education, sports and climate, and gave the world an opportunity to prepare plans that support the growth of the global economy during the post-COVID-19 pandemic phase.
The newspaper explained that the importance of the Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg came from making the world benefit from the strategic location of the State of Qatar, which is one of the most important points of connection between the regions of East, West and Africa, to discuss ways to enhance international cooperation and communication to develop and support economic opportunities.
Al-Raya also added that the importance of the forum came from the fact that it discussed the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, which left an economic shock and a difficult legacy, and caused disruption in financial markets, slashed global growth, and upended traditional business models.
The newspaper noted Qatar's initiative to organize the forum to develop the necessary plans for the world to get out of the COVID-19 crisis, which threatened the future of globalization and will cloud the economic conditions for generations to come, which requires restructuring the global economy.

In its editorial under the title of 'Qatar: Leading Role in Economy and Politics', the paper affirmed that the speech of HH the Amir, which carried significant content and insightful vision, has been a prominent part of the Forum, especially His Highness' review of the State of Qatar's successful strategy to confront the serious repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the requirements for transitioning to the post-pandemic period at the global level, as well as the importance of cooperation within the framework of the international system, and sharing responsibilities and working together, in order to provide and distribute vaccines equitably to confront the COVID-19 virus, in a manner that lays the foundation for building an integrated global social and economical system.

The paper concluded its editorial by saying that the support and recognition of the world's leaders and decision-makers in the State of Qatar's initiatives, and its prominent presence in the international scene as a major player in terms of politics and economy, proves the state's high and prestigious position.
For its part, The Peninsula newspaper praised Thursday the results of the first Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg, adding that the Forum has successfully highlighted the need for global vaccine equity as the world recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The English-language newspaper said in its editorial entitled "QEF highlights need for vaccine equity," that the forum addressed how developed economies can ensure a holistic approach to vaccination and its productions to enable speedy recovery and economic sustainability.
The paper highlighted the speech of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani who said the inaugural event "represents a springboard for a series of forums aimed at enriching the dialogue on the global economy and proceeding to the next post-COVID-19 phase."
HH the Amir also called on world leaders for increased cooperation to achieve a "just and comprehensive distribution of the vaccine in a manner that would pave the way for establishing an integrated global social and economic system in line with the sustainable global development goals to achieve wellbeing and stability to our peoples."
The newspaper stated that a number of international leaders, such as Managing Director and Chairwoman of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, World Bank Group President David Malpass, and Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala called on governments to finance a new $50bn roadmap to end the COVID-19 pandemic and drive a fast recovery.
The Peninsula concluded its editorial by saying that inevitably a cohesive and inclusive recovery plan seems the only option to a better post-pandemic world. (QNA)
