Doha, January 12 (QNA) - Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), and its strategic partner eye care organization Orbis, have committed to leveraging the success of their Qatar Creating Vision initiative during a meeting with Her Royal Highness the Countess of Wessex.
In 2020, phase one of Qatar Creating Vision (QCV) came to an end. Thanks to Qatar Fund for Developments vital support, Orbis and their partners delivered 6.7 million eye tests and treatments, mainly to children, across India and Bangladesh.
One of the areas discussed for phase two, was the elimination of eye conditions, focusing on innovative models to address diverse eye care issues including Diabetic Retinopathy and trachoma.
During the meeting, QFFD also discussed with the Countess their global programs that develop education, health and economic empowerment and climate change opportunities.
Her Royal Highness visited in Doha organizations who are championing eye care programs, in support of the IAPB's 2030 In Sight initiative. The campaign seeks to highlight the scale of avoidable blindness, and to promote a collaborative, global approach to ensuring eye care and rehabilitation facilities are available to everyone who needs them, wherever they are in the world.
HE Director General of Qatar Fund for Development Khalifa Al Kuwari, said: "I would like to express my thanks for all the efforts made, and I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Her Royal Highness, Countess of Wessex for providing this great opportunity and making change around the world and to all the workforces who made this project a reality."
His Excellency added: "This necessary strategic partnership with Orbis comes to serve an important category and field, namely eye health, as QFFD believes in the importance of providing good health for all and in obligation to its commitments to the third goal of the sustainable development goals."
For his part, Chairman of Orbis in the Middle East Dr. Robert Walters said: "Programs may last for a finite amount of time, but the impact of Qatar Creating Vision projects can be felt for generations to come.
