Doha, February 06 (QNA) - A delegation from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) concluded a five-day visit to Doha to assess the latest preparations for Doha bid to host the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, as the official announcement of the winning bid to host the event approaching.
During this visit, the AFC inspection delegation assessed Qatar's complete readiness while inspecting many facilities and stadiums, and learning about all proposed plans to host the 2027 Asian Cup in the event of winning the organizing rights.
The AFC delegation was accompanied on the inspection visit by representatives of Qatar Football Association and the 2027 AFC Asian Cup Bid Committee. Qatar Football Association affirmed its commitment to meet all hosting requirements, in accordance with the timetable approved by the Asian Football Confederation and the conditions and standards of the organization.
The delegation conducted a comprehensive evaluation to study the effectiveness and efficiency of the various facilities and mechanisms proposed to host the tournament matches, including stadiums, the mechanism for issuing tickets, information technology, advertising and marketing, radio and television broadcasting, protocol and hospitality, and security and safety factors.
The delegation inspected six of the eight fully-equipped World Cup stadiums designated for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which are Al Bayt Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, 974 Stadium, Lusail Stadium, Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium and Al Janoub Stadium.
The delegation also toured various departments of Aspire Foundation, such as Aspetar Hospital, the championship leadership center during major events, metro facilities, Hamad Medical City, Doha Exhibition and Convention Center and Qatar National Convention Center, in addition to some of the hotels designated for the teams and other vital facilities.
The visit also included several meetings between the AFC delegation and officials of Qatar Football Association and the 2027 AFC Asian Cup Bid Committee.
Qatar Bid 2027 is competing with the bids of Saudi Arabia, India and Iran. The AFC is expected to announce the winning bid during the first quarter of 2022 through the voting system during the convening of the members of the AFC General Assembly.
Qatar Football Association handed over the first part of the file on Aug. 26, 2021, followed by the second part which included all legal requirements on Oct. 29, then the third part which included government guarantee requirements on Nov. 26.
The final file which included all the requirements, and highlighted the great legacy of the State of Qatar in the field of hosting continental and international sporting events, was handed over on Dec. 15. (QNA)
