Doha, April 01 (QNA) - President of the International Football Association (FIFA) Gianni Infantino confirmed that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be held under the name of peace.

Infantino, in his speech during the tournament draw ceremony, which is currently being held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, welcomed all attendees in a number of languages, noting that the 2022 tournament will be the most beautiful and best version, and a football festival that will witness the attendance of more than 3 million people in Qatar and more than 5 billion viewers around the world.

The President of FIFA thanked the State of Qatar, HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, all residents of the Gulf region and all Arabs for the efforts made to organize the best version in the history of the tournament,. He also congratulated the teams that managed to qualify for the finals and the teams that qualified for the playoffs.

He added that by performing the draw today, we are approaching the moment of seriousness. He called on world leaders to discuss and debate the principle of security and peace and to stop wars. (QNA)
