Chair of European Parliament Subcommittee on Human Rights Hails Reforms in Labor Market in Qatar

Brussels, May 18 (QNA) - Chair of the European Parliament Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) Marie Arena hailed the reforms in the State of Qatar's labor market over the past few years.
In a statement following her participation in a workshop organized by the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) under the title "The European Union and Human Rights", Arena said that many reforms have been adopted in the labor market in the State of Qatar, adding that these reforms included the abolition of the kafala (sponsorship) system, freedom of workers to change jobs, setting a minimum wage, health and safety mechanisms in workplace, and other measures.
She also stressed that these reforms are very important, expressing hope that the reform process in the labor market will continue to meet future challenges and ensure the sustainability of long-term investment in providing good working conditions. (QNA)
