Hong Kong, January 24 - HE Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari participated in the opening session of the Asian Financial Forum (AFF 2024), and in a discussion session entitled 'charting the path to a better future', within the activities of the forum held in Hong Kong.
The discussion session focused on a number of topics, the most important of which is sustainable development and the difficulties associated with achieving it, global partnerships and the impact of political conditions on their development, in addition to the role of the international financial community in promoting sustainable development.
In his speech, HE the Minister of Finance stressed the importance of sustainable development and the effective strategy to achieve it by promoting investments in renewable energy and green projects, highlighting plans to issue the first sovereign green bonds soon and pleasure to share Qatari experience with other parties in this regard.
His Excellency noted that many of Qatari banks had already issued green bonds and sukuk, His Excellency added that Qatar was investing heavily in renewable energy as part of the Qatar National Vision 2030, and looking for ways to contribute to climate financing abroad commercially and on favorable terms.
The annual AFF aims to provide valuable views and in-depth understanding of various economic and political topics and fields.
On the sidelines of the forum, His Excellency the Minister also met with a number of local officials from Hong Kong and other countries, in addition to representatives of the financial sector. During the meetings, His Excellency the Minister discussed strengthening bilateral relations in various fields and highlighting the multiple investment opportunities offered by the State of Qatar, especially as Qatar launched the third national development plan, which constitutes the final stage of Qatar National Vision 2023.
