Promising GDP Estimates

Doha, January 04 (QNA) - Qatari newspaper Al-Raya underlined Friday that the Qatari economy has achieved unprecedented accomplishments during the past period following the siege, when the State of Qatar turned the crisis into a blessing and worked on stimulating the national economy, localizing industries and encouraging export.

Al-Raya said that the State of Qatar has also boosted the local production in various sectors, which reflected positively on the GDP. The State expanded its support for new sectors of the economy, set new priorities and developed long-term goals to achieve them.

The Qatari daily highlighted the promising GDP estimates issued by the Planning and Statistics Authority which affirmed the strength of the Qatari economy. According to data, the GDP was QR 614 billion for the first nine months of 2018, a growth of nearly 3% compared to the same period of the previous year amounting to QR 596 billion. Meanwhile, the estimated GDP at current prices is QR 518.4 billion, recording a growth of QR 73 billion or 16.4%, compared with the same period of 2017 which was QR 445 billion.

Al-Raya praised Qatar's professional dealing with the siege crisis, the strength of the Qatari economy and the economic reforms which have begun to bear fruit. (QNA)
