Newspapers Highlight HH the Amir's Participation in Beirut Summit

Doha, January 21 (QNA) - In their editorials on Monday, Qatari newspapers highlighted HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's participation in the Fourth Arab Economic and Social Development Summit held yesterday in Beirut, praising HH's keenness to improve Arab economic development structures and support Arab investment projects.

The State of Qatar, the paper said, believes in the importance of joint Arab action as the only way to achieve sustainable economic development in a country that enjoys human and natural resources.

For its part, Al-Sharq said that HH the Amir's participation in the Summit, which held amidst the most delicate regional situation and repercussions, gave it a great political momentum and positive impact after the majority of Arab leaders excused from participating.

The paper stressed that HH's presence at the Summit came to affirm that Doha, despite the blockade imposed on it, did not and will not forget the political or economic concerns and issues of the Arab nation.

It also referred to Qatar's pledge of $50 million for the State of Kuwait's initiative to create an Arab fund to support technology and digital economy.

The Qatari leadership's participation in the summit and its financial support emphasize its pivotal role and send a strong message to the blockading countries that their blockade has not and will not deter it from establishing special policies towards Arab nation based on a solid and free will that is not subjected to pressure and is not driven by narrow interests, the paper underlined.

The daily also praised Qatar's support of the Palestinian brothers in the West Bank and Gaza, the victims of the war in Syria and Yemen and the brothers in Tunisia, as well as its establishment of a fund under the auspices of the African Union to cover the costs of evacuating irregular migrants and their reintegration into their communities.

In conclusion, Al-Sharq said that the State of Qatar has proved to the world through its support for the Beirut Summit that it is practicing its diplomacy with transparency and clarity.

For its part, Al-Raya newspaper confirmed HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's participation in the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit as a significant milestone in the history of Arab summits and stressed that the State of Qatar has never disappointed the hopes of Lebanon and Arab peoples for a successful summit

The presence of HH the Amir at the Beirut summit gives it great momentum and attention, reflecting the State's keen interest in examining the difficult economic situation of the Arab countries, Al-Raya said. Meanwhile, other countries' abhorrent policies imposed on many Arab countries in the region are left to only choose between surrendering their sovereignty or turning their countries into a battlefield for regional conflicts, a prey for terrorism and to ignite political and security instability in the region, Al-Raya said.

Qatar, under its wise leadership, affirmed the effectiveness of its role in serving the causes of Arab nations by donating USD 50 million for the initiative of HH the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, which was announced in Beirut, Al-Raya noted. The initiative, an establishment of an Arab fund for investment in the fields of technology and digital economy, stresses that this Qatari support for the Kuwaiti initiative reflects the State's keenness to support the Arab world, as well as Arab joint action process, despite challenges and setbacks, the newspaper said.

Al-Raya pointed out Qatar's openness to the Arab countries, including Lebanon, stems from the principle of constructive cooperation to serve the common interests, away from any other motives and agendas, which is an outstanding Qatari strategic direction, an extension of Qatar's influential role internationally.

The newspaper underlined that the faith of Qatar, under the leadership of HH the Amir, will continue to be able to unite political forces to overcome any internal and external challenges and achieve economic development and political consensus that fulfills the aspirations of Lebanese people for a better future.

Al-Raya concluded that HH the Amir has been a champion of Arab peoples and issues, and that Qatar continues to thrive despite the blockade and its conspirators and to be an impenetrable shield against all those who seek to gamble with the aspirations of peoples looking for freedom, prosperity, peace and stability.

Meanwhile, Qatari daily Al-Watan in its Monday's editorial praised HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's participation in the 4th Arab Economic and Social Development Summit in Beirut, which received a wide Arab and regional interaction, with unprecedented praise for HH's unlimited support to the people of the Republic of Lebanon and his keenness to develop the Arab economic development structures, in addition to supporting Arab investment projects.

The paper considered that the Qatari support for the State of Kuwait's initiative for the establishment of an Arab fund for investment in the fields of technology and digital economy, with the participation of the private sector, is similar to Qatar and its leadership in establishing and supporting the bright ideas and ambitious initiatives to promote Arab investment in all fields in order to promote Arab economic growth.

It also praised the generous welcome Beirut have extended to His Highness the Amir attendance, at a time when most of the Arab leaders excused from participating, noting Qatar's keenness on maintaining strong relations with the sisterly Republic of Lebanon, which Qatar was the first to support in order to achieve economic, security and political stability.

In turn, Al-Arab daily affirmed that the participation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in the opening session of the 4th Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, which was held in Beirut in the Lebanese Republic yesterday reflects the State of Qatar's keenness on supporting efforts of development and economic stability in the Arab world in general and Lebanon in particular.

The Qatari daily said in its editorial Monday that HH the Amir's participation in this summit comes at a critical time for the march of the Arab world, and at a time when the State of Qatar is continuing its efforts to alleviate the accumulated economic difficulties experienced by a number of Arab countries in order to face the spread of unemployment and poverty.
