Doha, April 13 (QNA) - Al Rayah newspaper praised the status the State of Qatar garnered in the field of hosting international conferences that discuss relevant international community issues.
The paper highlighted that Doha will host tomorrow Sunday an international conference concerned with national, regional, and international mechanisms that guarantee accountability based on international law. The two-day conference is organized by the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) in partnership with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the European Parliament among other regional and international bodies.
The editorial said that the conference, held just days after Doha hosted the 140th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly, reflects the great trust the international community has in the State of Qatar in the field of human rights. The paper also said that the conference, which will host 250 personalities holding various prominent roles in international bodies, confirms Qatar's status as a platform for victims of crimes against humanity.
The paper stressed that Doha's hosting of the conference reflects the commitment of Qatar to holding those who committed crimes against humanity accountable. Al Rayah said that the importance of holding perpetrators of those crimes is not just important for pursuing justice, but for also ensuring that similar crimes do not happen in the future.
Al Rayah concluded the editorial stressed on the importance of encouraging all accountability-related efforts, including the enhancement of judicial cooperation between different countries.

In their editorials on Sunday, the Qatari dailies hailed the International Conference on "National, Regional and International Mechanisms to Combat Impunity and Ensure Accountability under International Law" which will kick off in Doha today.
For its part, Al-Sharq daily said that Doha, once again, hosts a new important dialogue platform for jurists and experts from more than 250 human rights organizations around the world as well as representatives of government agencies and governmental and non-governmental organizations, after its successful week-long hosting for the meetings of the 140th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamtary Union.
Al-Sharq noted that Doha today hosts the International Conference on "National, Regional and International Mechanisms to Combat Impunity and Ensure Accountability under International Law" to contribute to the international efforts in consolidating the state of law and justice.
This global event, which is held under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, gains special importance as it will be held in partnership with the European Parliament, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions, Al-Sharq added.
The paper stressed the significance of the conference as the largest international conference on the prevention of impunity in the Middle East in the Middle East, featuring rich discussions on more than 20 working papers on the accountability for grave violations of human rights and international humanitarian law, the right of victims to redress, in accordance with the fundamental principles and guidelines of international law, protecting and promoting human rights through action to combat impunity and many others.
In turn, Al-Watan said that the State of Qatar continues its efforts to establish and embody the most important international initiatives towards many of the international community's top priority issues, including the protection of human rights and respect and preservation the value of international law and legislation which are designed to protect people, communities, groups and individuals against any human rights violations.
The paper noted the two-day international conference on "National, regional and international mechanisms to combat impunity and ensure accountability under international law", organized by the National Human Rights Committee in Doha in partnership with UNHCR, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the European Parliament, which will be held in Doha on Sunday.
Al-Watan confirmed that the State of Qatar continues its approach to sponsoring the most important regional and international forums and events, in accordance with a clear and transparent foreign policy.
It pointed out that this vital issue is one of the most important issues in the international arena, which is of great importance, especially in light of the problems faced by some regions of the world from armed conflicts or security disturbances, with the occurrence of many crimes committed by individuals or political systems.
