Doha, April 22 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers highlighted the new African tour of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani which began on Sunday in the Republic of Rwanda and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The tour, the papers said, reflects the increasing Qatari commitment to building solid relations and strategic partnerships with the African continent in various fields.
The Qatari dailies said that Qatari relations with African countries are gaining an important impetus and are part of the State's wide diplomatic activity and global openness.
The papers also noted that the Qatari presence in Africa and its efforts to bring peace to the continent are appreciated and praised by the leaders of African countries, stressing that HH the Amir's visits opened horizons of comprehensive cooperation, which will benefit Qatari people and the peoples of these friendly countries.
In its editorial Monday, Al-Sharq said that Qatar's remarkable openness to the continent is part of the Qatari leadership's keenness in enhancing cooperation with African countries, especially in the areas of investment, education, infrastructure and agriculture, and in eliminating the causes that lead to extremism and violence.
His Highness' new visit to the African continent comes at a time when Qatar has been able to fortify its infrastructure, national facilities and economic and strategic sectors despite the blockade, the paper said.
The visits also enhance the political, diplomatic and economic outcomes of the previous African tour of His Highness, which included Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana, the paper added.
The tour also highlights the importance of Africa as a strategic partner and natural extension of the Arab world and a promising arena for building strategic economic, trade and investment partnerships.
In conclusion, Al-Sharq said that Qatari investments, by engaging in serious development projects in Africa, will build deeper and stronger alliances and partnerships that will benefit both sides
In turn, Al-Watan newspaper stressed that Africa has a strategic depth for the Arab world as more than two-thirds of the Arabs inhabit this continent.
The State visits of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to the Republic of Rwanda and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, come as part of Qatar's extensive diplomatic activity, and its global openness, the paper said.
Qatar's relations with Rwanda are strengthened by HH the Amir's meetings with President Paul Kagame, Al-Watan said.
The daily also noted Africa's wealth and wide market for many products, saying that the move towards Africa is not only useful at the political level, but also at the economic level, which Africans also need to develop in order to serve national interests and aspirations, and to diversify sources of income to open new horizons for Qatari investments to launch promising projects across the world.
In conclusion, Al-Watan affirmed that the country's presence in Africa and its efforts to bring peace to the continent are appreciated and commended by the leaders of the African countries.
For its part, Qatari daily Al-Raya said that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's official talks with HE President Paul Kagame of the Republic of Rwanda are of importance to Qatar's strategy to develop its relations with various African countries.
The paper noted that Rwanda plays a significant role economically and politically in the African continent, and that HH's talks which discussed bilateral relations and means of enhancing them to develop cooperation opportunities between the two countries, especially in the fields of economy, investment, education, innovation, culture, sports and tourism, affirm the keenness of the leaders of the two countries to transform these relations into a strategic partnership in various fields for the benefit of both countries and peoples.
In its editorial today, the daily said that the importance of HH's visit is that it came after HE President Paul Kagame's visit to Qatar last November, during which bilateral discussions were held with HH the Amir on various political, economic, investment and agricultural areas and mineral sectors, as well as prospects for developing them to serve the common interests.
The paper pointed out that despite the novelty of relations between Qatar and Rwanda, they are characterized as ambitious and promising, and showed the determination of the Qatari and Rwandan sides to strengthen and develop them to serve the two countries and the two friendly peoples.
The results of His Highness's visit to Rwanda, which included the signing of an agreement in the airspace and two draft memorandums of understanding for cooperation in the fields of sport and culture, as well as a memorandum of cooperation in the fields of tourism and business activities, reflected Qatar's keenness to strengthen these relations through constant consultation and continuous coordination with the Rwandan leadership, the paper said.
Al-Raya concluded that Qatar has been keen to diversify partnerships and sign agreements to implement investment projects, and that Rwanda, which has promising opportunities in various fields, is well qualified to attract Qatari investments.
Al- Arab newspaper said in its editorial that the new African tour of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, which includes visits to Rwanda and Nigeria, reflects the growing Qatari interest in the continent to build solid relations and strategic partnerships with it in various fields.
Al-Arab said that Qatari relations with African countries are gaining an important impetus after the African tour of HH the Amir in December 2017, which included Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana. This tour, the paper said, has contributed to signing a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding to strengthen Qatar's relations with these countries.
The newspaper referred to the continued meetings between HH the Amir and the African leaders, including HH the Amir's meeting a few days ago in Doha with President of the Republic of Botswana Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi, and HH's meetings in November with Ghanaian President Nana Akufo Addo and Rwandan President Paul Kagame, where HH reviewed with them bilateral relations between Qatar and the two friendly countries and means of supporting and developing them, as well as a number of issues of common concern. HH the Amir also witnessed the signing of several agreements and memorandums of understanding with the two countries.
Rwanda, the paper said, was able to attract the attention of the world after it was able to rise strongly after the ethnic war in early 1990s, and has taken great strides in building a prosperous and united country.
Rwanda's government has also succeeded in fighting corruption and reducing poverty, making its economy one of the fastest growing economies in the African continent, Al-Arab added.
Al-Arab concluded by saying that the many meetings between HH the Amir and the African leaders and Qatar's interest in the African Continent will benefit the Qatari people and peoples of the continent in the light of the great potential of Qatar's economy and the investment potential that enables it to open up great prospects for cooperation.
