Doha, April 26 (QNA) - Al Watan and Al Sharq highlighted in their editorials today the State of Qatar's wise handling of different issues related with returning rights and achieving peace, saying that the Palestinian cause is at the forefront of these issues.
The two papers discussed what HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said on Twitter when he called on the international community to put an end to the Israeli violations against the Palestinian people, and respect Muslim holy sites starting with Al Aqsa Mosque. His Excellency added that the constant attempts to storm into the mosque was a clear violation to all international agreements and resolutions.
Al Watan newspaper said that the storming of the mosque by hundreds of Israeli settlers yesterday, for the fourth consecutive day, confirms that the occupation is continuing to undermine Palestinian holy sites and to disregard the international law. The paper also called out the international community for their silence over the matter. The paper noted that an intervention from the international community will be the most appropriate way to end those violations.
The editorial concluded by saying that the actions of Qatar shows that it will not spare any effort in ensuring occupied Al Quds remains under the administration of Jordan until the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the borders of 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Al Sharq for its part said that the comments made by HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani that called on the international community to put an end to Israeli violations against the Palestinian people, stems from the State of Qatar's commitment to pursuing justice and establishing peace and stability.
The paper added that the State of Qatar's position is clear that the Palestinian issue can never be resolved without the Palestinian people getting their right in establishing an independent state, and without an end to Israeli violations of Palestinian rights.
Al Sharq said that Qatar's approach was consistent in all the issues of the region, something that was reflected by HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs during the meeting with his American counterpart. The two sides discussed a number of regional and international issues of joint interest, particularly Libya, Sudan, Afghanistan, and Iraq. They also agreed on the importance of reaching a political resolution in Libya, ending the aggression on Tripoli, and the immediate return to the political route.
Al Sharq concluded by saying that the meeting also that the two sides also stressed the importance of having the State of Qatar and the U.S. continue their cooperation to achieve a reconciliation and establish peace in Afghanistan, in the framework of Qatar's efforts to facilitate talks between the U.S. and Taliban, and the importance of concerted counter-terrorism efforts.
