Al-Raya, Al-Watan Hail Launch of Investment Promotion Agency in Qatar

Doha, July 18 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers Al-Raya and Al-Watan hailed the launch of the Investment Promotion Agency LLC which aims to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) to the State of Qatar, in line with objectives set out in the Qatar National Vision 2030.

The newspapers stressed that the Investment Promotion Agency LLC, will aim to be a complete source for investment solutions in the State of Qatar by attracting FDI in all of the country's priority sectors, and will also pursue targeted sector-specific investment promotion agendas and coordinate investment promotion and marketing activities with key stakeholders, as well as develop policy advisory.

In its editorial Thursday, Al-Raya said that the establishment of this agency reflects the vision of the State of Qatar's wise leadership to pay attention to investment and its promotion and encourage creative initiatives that contribute to the advancement of all economic and investment sectors in the country and in line with developments at the national and international levels and the objectives set out in the Qatar National Vision 2030 which its foundations were laid by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and resulted in many specialized development strategies in each sector of the State.

The launch of this agency affirms that Qatar is already an attractive hub for foreign direct investment, the paper said, pointing out that launching the Investment Promotion Agency will add to Qatar's efforts to further boost FDI into the country, and the agency will achieve this through a number of initiatives such as working with stakeholders to support international businesses wishing to set up operations in Qatar.

In conclusion, Al-Raya said that the Investment Promotion Agency will strengthen Qatar's position as an international investment hub, especially as the country has all the potential in terms of ports and airports, therefore, the launch of the Agency is timely and underlines the importance the State attaches to investment in various sectors.

For its part, Al-Watan stressed in its Thursday editorial that with the launching of the Investment Promotion Agency, investment and attracting investors and providing all the factors of success for them, is an integrated national plan and an important economic objective, which the government is working hard to achieve in line with the requirements of Qatar National Vision 2030.

The newspaper praised the launch of the Agency, which is dedicated to promoting investment in the State of Qatar, and aims to attract foreign investments to the country, considering it a very important and effective step to attract foreign direct investment (FDI).

The Investment Promotion Agency would be an integrated source of investment solutions in the State by attracting FDI in all priority sectors, Al-Watan said, adding that it would also follow up the agenda of investment promotion activities required from specific sectors and coordinate various investment and marketing activities with key stakeholders, as well as its advisory functions on policies.

The paper also referred to what HE Minister of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Investment Promotion Agency Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari said that the agency will launch a number of initiatives such as working with stakeholders to support international businesses wishing to set up operations in Qatar.

The State of Qatar is taking all measures and decisions that would attract more foreign direct investment in the interest of economic growth, despite the brutal blockade, which was eager to obstruct the Qatari economy, Al-Watan concluded. (QNA)
