Qatar gets set to unveil ‘2022’ emblem

At exactly 20:22 tonight, the official emblem of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be unveiled digitally across the globe, marking another milestone in the country’s journey to host football’s showpiece event in a little over three years’ time.

Fans in Qatar will join football fanatics in New York, Madrid, Seoul, Johannesburg, Moscow, Mexico City, Mumbai, Berlin, Paris, London and Sao Paulo to watch the emblem unveiling on huge digital screens.

The digital unveiling will also be witnessed by fans in 10 districts across Turkey.

The visuals of emblem unveiling will also reach millions homes across the region and the world through live broadcast to be carried out by beIN Sports channels, it was announced yesterday.

In Doha, Katara Amphitheater, Souq Waqif, Sheraton Hotel, Torch Doha, Doha Tower, Zubarah Fort and Ministry of Interior building are the locations where fans can watch the ceremony on screens, Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) announced earlier this week.

Locations have also been finalised across the region with Kuwait, Oman, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco also taking part in witnessing the unveiling of the Qatar 2022 emblem, organisers added.

The emblem unveiling occasion comes after Qatar inaugurated one of eight FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 venues in May when the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani joined FIFA President Gianni Infantino and scores of other dignitaries to witness the first ever official match played at the spectacular Al Janoub Stadium.

Yesterday, beIN Media Group announced that it will broadcast an exclusive program “Road to 2022” to mark the emblem unveiling across its beIN SPORTS channels.

“beIN Sports’ free to air channel, news channel as well as channels from HD 1 to HD 7 will broadcast the dedicated program “Road to 2022” in Arabic, as beIN SPORTS HD 11 and HD 13 will broadcast in English starting from 20:00 Mecca Time (GMT+3) – with exclusive clips of Qatar’s achievements, views of the city of Doha and the impressive construction projects across the whole country,” a statement from beIN Sports said yesterday.

“beIN Sports will host a guest from the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy in the Arabic studios with beIN presenter Ayman Jadah and stars such as Tarak Dhiab, Egyptian football legend Mohammed Abutrika and Qatar football legend Ibrahim Khalfan. beIN Sports’ English studios will host Qatar Football Association’s Technical Director Tarik Mansour and former French footballer Didier Domi,” the statement added.
