Doha, October 14 (QNA) - Under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Global Security Forum 2019 will kick off tomorrow.
The two-day forum, with the participation of a number of ministers, senior local, regional and international officials and international organizations, will discuss the security challenges posed by the current misinformation and the serious implications of this trend and its impact on a world where communications are increasingly evolving.
The two-day forum at the St. Regis Doha provides a vital platform for all stakeholders to come together, initiate a constructive and innovative dialogue, and propose possible solutions in light of the global implications of misinformation, especially as organized campaigns that provide false information to individuals or groups have become a common and ongoing security threat, and pose an unprecedented threat, which requires addressing and adopting a comprehensive international and societal methodology.
Although all countries deal with this phenomenon along with those of private and non-profit institutions that address its implications, efforts based solely on governments or the private sector will not succeed in confronting this misleading information, and an open dialogue must be conducted to develop effective and comprehensive solutions.
The Forum, organized by the Soufan Center in collaboration with Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and a number of strategic partners, discussed in its first edition in 2018 the topic of returning foreign fighters and brought together more than 60 countries and issued important results. (QNA)
