Al Raya: Qatar is Model for Unlimited Humanitarian Giving

Doha, August 28 (QNA) - Al Raya newspaper said on Friday that the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) projects to reconstruct the disaster-stricken areas, which were devastated by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, confirm the spread of Qatari relief work to all continents and that the State of Qatar is a model for unlimited humanitarian giving.

In its editorial under the title "Qatar development projects supporting the afflicted areas in Japan", the newspaper indicated that Qatar stood with Japan in its ordeal, and was one of the countries that provided pioneering projects for the benefit of local communities affected by the earthquake and tsunami, adding that the State of Qatar has become a model for unlimited human giving.

In this regard, Al Raya pointed to the visit of HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan Hassan bin Mohammed Rafie Al Emadi to several projects established by Doha, in favor of the development of the Japanese communities most affected by the 2011 disaster. Qatar wanted to reassure the people of Japan that their friends would not abandon them and that they were fully prepared to extend a helping hand at any moment when these friendly people needed help, the paper added.

The daily explained that HE the Ambassador visited the Maskar Complex, which is a multifunctional fish processing facility established in northeast Japans Onagawa by QFFD's Qatar Friendship Fund (QFF) in Japan with a total cost of USD 22,757,210, part of its projects to support efforts to rebuild the affected areas.

It emphasized that the complex is the result of reconstruction projects for areas devastated by disasters in Japan, and has become a landmark that mainly contributes to reviving and revitalizing the fishing industry, providing thousands of jobs, improving the lives of residents and restoring normal life to the city of Onagawa and the region.

The Qatar Friendship Fund, financed by the QFFD, has executed 12 projects in Japan, with a total value of USD 100 million. These projects met the urgent and sustainable needs of the residents of the areas affected by the earthquake and tsunami, and focused on four main areas: education, fisheries, health care, and entrepreneurship, Al Raya said.

Al Raya concluded that Qatar, which continues to provide relief to friends around the world, is striving with all its efforts to solve crises, help societies, and provide assistance to those who need it, believing that overcoming humanitarian crises, diseases, epidemics, disasters, and negative phenomena requires the solidarity of everyone, and standing together in the face crises so that humanity enjoys security, peace, stability, economic empowerment, and sustainable development. The paper pointed to the United Nations' confirmation that Qatar is an important humanitarian partner and a primary supporter of the organization's efforts around the world, stressing that Qatar carries a message of giving and peace for all.
