/Al-Raya Underlines Strength, Durability of Qatari Economy

Doha, July 28 (QNA) - In its editorial on Wednesday, Al-Raya newspaper underlined the strength and durability of the Qatari economy, which continues to grow despite all the challenges imposed by COVID-19 pandemic globally.

The paper stressed that the State of Qatar has been able, with flexibility and professionalism, to harmonize between the requirements of public health by tightening precautionary measures and imposing some closures, and the need to continue working in the productive and economic sectors.

In this regard, the newspaper pointed out that Qatar's trade balance recorded a surplus of QR 16.7 billion in June 2021, an increase of about QR 10.8 billion, or 184.2%, compared to June 2020.

The State of Qatar, the paper said, has steadfastly overcome the crisis and continued to achieve economic successes, which was confirmed by the trade surplus, as export and import operations were not greatly affected by the pandemic, thanks to the support of the precautionary measures taken by the state.

The trade surplus figures affirm that the State of Qatar is successfully proceeding with plans to diversify the economy and increase the contribution of the non-oil sector to the GDP, the paper said, noting that the Qatari economy has made unprecedented achievements during the last period, as the State of Qatar turned the crisis into a grant, increased its efforts and launched unprecedented initiatives in order to stimulate the economy, localize industries and encourage exports, as well as strengthened the position of local production in various sectors.

In conclusion, Al-Raya said that the Qatari economy was able to overcome the crisis that struck the world due to the Covit-19 repercussions without harm, pointing out that the financial and economic incentives amounting to QR75 billion provided by the State to the private sector have contributed to limiting the effects of the pandemic.
