Doha, January 05 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers, Al-Raya and Al-Sharq, underlined in their editorials on Saturday the importance of the second round of the Qatar-US Strategic Dialogue which will be held in Doha next week during the visit of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to the region.

The Qatari dailies highlighted the strong relations between the State of Qatar and the United States, which have consolidated further during the past years thanks to Qatar's important role in achieving stability in the region and in the fight against terrorism.

For its part, Al-Raya daily said that the second round of the strategic dialogue sessions between Qatar and the United States next Tuesday will enhance the bilateral partnership and promote the mutual cooperation in the fields of energy, the fight against terrorism, education, labor, culture and trade issues.

Al-Raya noted that the first Qatar-US Strategic Dialogue, which was held in Washington last year, revealed the depth of the relation and the consensus and convergence in the strategic visions between Doha and Washington, and the need to further strengthening the relations as two allies and friends.

Al-Raya said that the US administration realized the seriousness and keenness of Qatar on developing the strategic partnership between the two countries, therefore, the agreements signed during the first Strategic Dialogue affirmed the importance of the Qatari role in achieving regional stability.

The first Strategic Dialogue also asserted Washington's commitment to the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, as an important strategic partner, and that compromising its security and stability is detrimental to American interests. It was a strong response to all those who attempted to negatively impact the Qatari-US relations, the paper added.

The Strategic Dialogue expanded the mutual cooperation and coordination between the two sides to an effective and promising strategic partnership in all fields, Al-Raya underlined.

Meanwhile, Al-Sharq newspaper underlined that the relations between the State of Qatar and the United States are strong and deep-rooted, enhanced by strategic partnership and dialogue in the fields of defense, combating terrorism and extremism, trade and investment.

The Qatari daily said that the first round of the Strategic dialogue, which was held in Washington last year, revealed the strength of the bilateral relations and the depth of mutual cooperation to the achieve the interests of the two countries.

The second round of the Strategic Dialogue in Doha will consolidate further the joint vision for the future of the strategic partnership, in light of the joint commitment to developing and promoting the bilateral relations and cooperation in all areas, Al-Sharq added.

Al-Sharq stressed the importance of the Strategic Dialogue for the security and stability of the Gulf region, in light of the vital and crucial role of the two countries, especially in the fight against terrorism, and the Gulf crisis which has security and humanitarian impacts.

The State of Qatar and the United States agree on the need to develop radical solutions to the serious challenges facing the region in order to maintain security and stability and achieve the interests of peoples, Al-Sharq concluded. (QNA)
