A number of global aviation sector officials praised Qatar Airways' hosting of the 78th annual meeting of IATA and the World Air Transport Summit, which have been hosted by Doha over three days.

The Regional Vice President Africa & Middle East at International Air Transport Association (IATA) Kamil Al-Awadhi, praised the readiness and arrangement of the State of Qatar and Qatar Airways to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which he described as a major global event.

Under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, leaders, decision-makers, businessmen and managers of major international companies will meet in Doha as part of the activities of the 2nd edition of Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg, which will be held from June 20-22 under the slogan "Equalizing the Global Recovery."

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) Conference, which is currently hosted in Doha, kicked off today at the Sheraton Hotel and will continue for three days. The IATA conference aims to find solutions that contribute to the prosperity of the civil aviation sector in the coming years, especially since the phase the sector is going through necessitates the importance of activating global cooperation activities in civil aviation and enabling collaborative work to support the realization of ambitions and innovation and the development of policies necessary to ensure a promising future for the sector.

The State of Qatar topped the countries of the Middle East and North Africa region for the fourth year in a row, according to the Global Peace Index Report for 2022. Qatar ranked 23 globally among 163 countries included in the report, advancing by six places over the previous year and it secured an overall score of (1.530) above many of the developed countries.

The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 has achieved ISO 20121 certification, the international standard that sets requirements for developing and implementing an effective management system to deliver a sustainable event.

Hamad International Airport (HIA) has been ranked and named the "Best Airport in the World" for the second year in a row by the prestigious SKYTRAX World Airport Awards 2022 at the global event Passenger Terminal Expo in Paris, France. The airport has also retained its title as the "Best Airport in the Middle East" for the eighth year in a row.

In their Sunday editorials, Qatari daily newspapers Al-Watan and Al-Raya highlighted the Qatar Economic Forum, in cooperation with Bloomberg, which begins on June 20 under the theme of "Equalizing the Global Recovery," stressing that the forum is gaining significance at the global stage, especially as the world's economies are still climbing their way back to pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels.

In its editorial on Sunday, the English-language newspaper The Peninsula said that with more than five months to go for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, excitement is already in the air in Qatar, which is getting ready to host the first ever football showpiece in the Middle East, where World Cup logo and flags of the qualified teams are on display giving a sense of excitement to the passers by.
