College of Law at HBKU Co-Organizes International Investment Law and State Capitalism Colloquium

College of Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) organized an international electronic colloquium to discuss a variety of issues and topics about the interaction between state capitalism, at the local and international levels, and international investment law. The colloquium in which the participants from academia, international, governmental and non-governmental organizations and the private sector took place in various countries of the world included discussion sessions on the foundations of the international economic order in the age of state capitalism, international dispute settlement, and other matters, as included a keynote speech, as well as contributions from the co-organizers and attendees.


International Labor Organization Commends Qatar's Labor Achievements

The State of Qatar participated on Saturday via videoconferencing in the work of the 340th session of the International Labor Organization Governing Body. The members of the International Labor Organization's Governing Body praised what has been achieved in the field of labor in the State of Qatar and joint cooperation, through the speeches and interventions of representatives of employers and workers' team, the Asian group, the European Union, and the governments of India, Britain, the United States of America, Canada and Switzerland.



Qatar Participates in Opening Ceremony of Third China International Import Expo

e State of Qatar took part in the official opening ceremony of the third China International Import Expo, which was inaugurated by Chinese President Xi Jinping in Shanghai, through video conferencing, on Wednesday. The State of Qatar was represented at the opening ceremony by HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari.




QU Makes New Progress in THE World University Ranking

Qatar University (QU) has improved in all subject areas according to Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by subjects 2021. The ranking assesses universities by their performance in 11 subjects, and QU was ranked in Business and Economics, Computer Science, Education, Engineering, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences and Clinical Pre-Clinical and Health which is a new addition to the list this year.


IPA Qatar Signs MoU with UBS Group

The Investment Promotion Agency of Qatar (IPA Qatar), which is licensed on the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) platform, signed on Sunday a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UBS Group, the worlds preeminent global wealth management firm and a leading financial services provider, in the field of wealth management and financial services. The MoU was signed by HE Minister of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of IPA Qatar Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, and for UBS by Group Chairman Axel Weber and Group CEO Ralph Hamers, in the presence of officials from both sides.


Al-Raya Praises Qatar's Economic Policy

Qatari daily newspaper Al-Raya praised in its Sunday editorial the State of Qatar's economic policy, which is based on a strong system, stressing that Qatar, which maintained the strength of its economy, was able to attract investors to it thanks to the wisdom of the leadership that attached great importance on the economic sector. The newspaper further explained that Qatar strengthened its strategic relations with major and friendly countries in addition to strengthening its economy and increasing its self-sufficiency percentage.


The State of Qatar Participates in Group of 77 and China Ministerial Meeting

The State of Qatar participated Thursday in the virtual ministerial meeting of the Group of 77 and China on maintaining a low-carbon development path towards the 2030 agenda in the era of COVID-19. The State of Qatar was represented in the meeting by HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi. His Excellency stressed during his speech that the State of Qatar will continue to cooperate with the international community in alleviating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
