Qatari newspapers issued today unanimously agreed that the Shura Council elections, as the first legislative elections in the State of Qatar, are an important transformation and a milestone in the country's political life, within the framework of the political leadership's efforts to promote democracy by expanding popular participation in the political process.

The Consul General of the State of Qatar in Hong Kong His Excellency Mr. Mohammed Sultan Al Kuwari, has met with the Chief Secretary for Administration for the Government of the Hong Kong SAR, Mr. John Lee to bid the former farewell upon the completion of his tour of duties as Consul General in Hong Kong.

In their editorials Tuesday, Al-Raya and The Peninsula newspapers hailed the great success that have been achieved during the past few years in the management and implementation of major infrastructure projects in the State of Qatar. The two newspapers affirmed that the major strategic projects that have been achieved will play a major role in promoting the country's economic growth
