ICAO Council Approves Qatar's Proposal to Establish Doha Flight Information Region, Doha Search and Rescue Region

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council has agreed, in principal, on the establishment of Doha Flight Information Region (FIR) and Doha Search and Rescue Region drawing on the State of Qatar's proposal, which would include Qatar's sovereign airspace and, to optimize safety and efficiency of the regional airspace, as well as other contiguous airspace over the high seas. The decision was taken during the 223rd session of the ICAO Council meetings that began on June 18.


SC and QVision Claim Seven Prizes at Eventex Awards 2021

The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) and Qatar Vision (QVision) were among the big winners at the Eventex Awards 2021 thanks to the impact of three FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 milestones. The organisations received seven awards at this year's ceremony, which recognises events and experience marketing excellence. The prizes were given for the Qatar 2022 emblem launch and the inauguration of both Al Janoub and Ahmad Bin Ali stadiums. In total, the SC and QVision won two gold awards, three silver and two bronze.

The former Dutch football star Ruud Gullit said that climate factor and geographical proximity between stadiums will give the State of Qatar a great advantage when it hosts the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. In a statement, Gullit said it will be a great World Cup because Europe is very cold, and it would be nice to come here where the temperature is moderate. The World Cup will be great because of the availability of all facilities in the country, he said, adding that there will be a great competition on excellent stadiums.
