Qatar Inaugurates Fourth World Cup Stadium Amidst Celebrations

The State of Qatar inaugurated the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan, the fourth stadium of World Cup 2022. HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani led the list of attendees of the inauguration ceremony of the stadium that hosted the final of the Amir Cup, which ended in Al Sadd's favor 201. A total of 20,000 fans attended the match at the stadium, the highest number in the world since COVID-19 was declared a pandemic.


UEFA President Praises Qatar's Preparations to Organize the 2022 World Cup

The President of the European Football Associations (UEFA) Aleksander Ceferin, praised Qatar's preparations to organize the 2022 FIFA World Cup, on the sidelines of his visit to Doha to attend the final of HH the Amir's Football Cup, which will be held tomorrow at Al Rayyan Stadium. During a press conference held today at the Four Seasons Hotel, in the presence of local media, Ceferin expressed his admiration and astonishment at the development he had observed at the level of facilities in Doha, and the intense preparations for hosting the World Cup in two years.




Qatar Wins Bid to Host 2030 Asian Games

The State of Qatar has won the bid to host the 2030 Asian Games after Doha file achieved the highest number of votes in the voting which took place on the sidelines of the 39th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) in the Omani capital of Muscat on Wednesday. The 39th OCA General Assembly was attended by HE President of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and Chairman of Doha 2030 Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, HE Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani and HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani.

QCB Announces Launch of New Issue of Currency Notes on December 18

The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) announced putting the fifth issue of the Qatari currency into circulation to coincide with the Qatar National Day celebration. Executive Director of the Public Debt, Banking Affairs and Issuance at QCB Mohamed Jassim Al Kuwari said at a press conference that the new issue contains seven categories of banknotes, these are 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 Riyal, pointing that pursuant to the provisions of Articles (54 and 55) of the Qatar Central Bank Law and Regulation of Financial Institutions promulgated by Law No. (13) of 2012, it has been decided to withdraw banknotes from the fourth edition of circulation within a period of 90 days from the date of the new offering of the fifth issue on 12/18/2020.
