The Smart City Expo Doha, which was held on the fringes of the Qatar IT Conference and Exhibition (QITCOM 2019), concluded with the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) and Fira de Barcelona, the organizer of the Smart City Expo World. Under the agreement, Doha will host the event annually for an additional two years.

The 2019 Trinity Forum kicked off in Doha Wednesday with the participation of hundreds of airport and retail industry leaders from around the world. The first Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Langkawi, Malaysia touched down at Langkawi International Airport on Tuesday 15 October 2019. To celebrate the launch of the popular new destination, an extra special flight was operated from Doha to Langkawi on Wednesday 16 October 2019, in which a number of VIPS, international media and Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker were on board.

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani warned of the risks posed by the misleading and fake news, stressing that it may constitute an international threat, especially with the development of technology and the growing use of social media. Speaking at a session held within the framework of the 2019 Global Security Forum which aims to explore the security challenges posed by the proliferation of modern disinformation, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs said that the phenomenon of misleading and fake news has become an international threat and can trigger wars that undermine world peace.
