October 14,2019- Macau- Consul General of the State of Qatar in Hong Kong H.E Mohammed Sultan Al-Kuwari has attended the opening ceremony of the Global Tourism Economy Forum in Macau SAR; organized by The Government of Macau Special Administrative Region, The Global Tourism Economy Research Center in cooperation with the UNWTO and the Chinese Chamber of Tourism.

Under the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) participated in the Sixth Replenishment Conference of the Global Fund to mobilize resources to eradicate diseases in Lyon, France, representing the State of Qatar. QFFD announced a multi-year donation of USD 50 million to the Global Fund, which aims to eliminate diseases such as AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis by 2030.

The Qatar 2019 World Beach Games of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) kicks off on Saturday in Katara and continues until Wednesday. HE President of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, ANOC Acting President Robin Mitchell, national Olympic committees chairpersons, and guests will attend the opening ceremony.

Consul General of the State of Qatar, H.E Mohammed Sultan Al-Kuwari has hosted a luncheon in welcome of the new Consul General of Turkey and the new Consul General of Kazakhstan who have resumed their duties in Hong Kong recently. Qatar Pavilion participating in the International Horticultural Exhibition (Expo Beijing 2019) won the grand award of the Expo's organizing committee for the best foreign pavilion and also won the grand award of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH), the most prestigious awards for foreign pavilions participating in the exhibition. The award was received by Deputy Commissioner-General of the Qatar Pavilion at Expo Beijing Dr Fikra Ashkanani at a ceremony held at the occasion where winners were honored and awards were distributed.

Qatar News Agency (QNA) has prepared Cultural Report entitle "Doha Embraces Cultures of the World, Preserves Its National Identity", within the Cultural Report of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA). The report includes a number of key cultural events in the State of Qatar. The State of Qatar was elected to the membership of the Intergovernmental Committee of the 2005 Convention for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in June 2018, affirming the confidence of the international community in the role carried out by the State of Qatar to promote cultural diversity and to protect and enhance the diversity of cultural expressions within a special framework for policy formulation and identifying measures to promote the emergence of dynamic and creative cultural industries and markets worldwide.
