600 Days Until World Cup Qatar 2022 Kicks Off

While work continues in the construction of stadiums and infrastructure projects related to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, exceeding the scheduled timetables, today marks the 600-day countdown to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the first World Cup in the Middle East and Arab world. As the State of Qatar announced the readiness of four stadiums out of eight, the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy is preparing to open three more stadiums before the end of this year, namely Al-Bayt, Al-Thumama and Ras Abu Aboud, while it prepares to launch Lusail Stadium early next year.


Al-Watan Highlights Role of Investment Promotion Agency Qatar

Qatari newspaper Al-Watan underlined Saturday that the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar (IPA Qatar) has been exerting unremitting efforts in cooperation with its partners to enhance the inflows of foreign direct investment into Qatar. Al-Watan noted that the efforts of IPA Qatar are supported by the use of innovative technology to improve products or processes, by linking all components of industry and supply chains within a smart technological system, as well as the health care and the logistics services sectors, in addition to other sectors such as virtual education, information and communication technology and the artificial intelligence in general, which are key areas in terms of Qatar's ongoing economic diversification plan.


UN Secretary-General 2020 Innovation Award Granted to Education for Justice" Initiative Funded by Qatar

The "Education for Justice" initiative of the Global Program of the Doha Declaration issued by the Thirteenth Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice 2015 and funded by the State of Qatar, awarded the United Nations Secretary-General 2020 Innovation Award. The Global Program of the Doha Declaration, implemented by the Vienna-based United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), includes four main areas: judicial integrity, education for justice, protection of youth from crime through sport, and the rehabilitation of prisoners.


Qatar Petroleum Signs Long-Term SPA to Supply 2 MTPA of LNG to China's Sinopec

Qatar Petroleum (QP) on Monday entered into a 10-year LNG Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) for the supply of 2 million tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG to the People's Republic of China. The SPA was signed by HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of Qatar Petroleum Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, and the Chairman of Sinopec Group Zhang Yuzhuo during a virtual ceremony attended by senior officials from both sides.



Qatar Petroleum Joins World Bank in the Global Fight Against Routine Flaring

Qatar Petroleum announced that it has joined the World Bank-led Global Gas Flaring Reduction Partnership (GGFR) Multi-Donor Trust Fund, as part of its commitment to stronger collaborations in the global effort to reduce flaring or burning of natural gas associated with oil/gas exploration, production and processing operations.


QFFD Signs a Core Contribution Agreement with WHO

The State of Qatar, represented by Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), and the World Health Organization (WHO) have signed a Core Contribution Agreement for US$ 10,000,000 to support WHO's Thirteenth General Programme of Work (GPW 13) and for COVID-19 response through the Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator (ACT-A). This is the first Core Contribution Agreement signed between the State of Qatar and WHO, highlighting the strong partnership and commitment to work jointly ensuring the most vulnerable communities around the world receive immediate and unhampered assistance when it is most needed.


Minister of Transportation and Communications: Qatar Attaches Great Importance to the Issue of Sustainable Development
